A group of Brazilian students and faculty, from a great variety of research areas, have gathered to design a house which has the sun as the only source of energy. The Ekó House is the Team Brasil’s entry for the Solar Decathlon Europe 2012 and represents a concept for living in a more sustainable country. The name “Ekó” comes from the native Tupi-Guarani languages, and means “living” or “way of living”. The house blends local and traditional solutions with high performance technologies.
